چکیده

Abstract The present study investigated the toxic action of acrylamide (ACR) and abrogative effect aqueous propolis extract on ACR-induced toxicity in male albino rats. Forty adult rats were randomly divided into four groups administered treatment doses orally by gavage. Control, treated with a physiological solution (5.0 ml/rat). ACR-treated group, ACR 25 mg/kg. + propolis, mg/kg 100 propolis. Propolis-treated period was 28 days, using gavage stomach tube. results showed that presence increased ( P < 0.001) level liver enzymes alanine aminotransferase (167.2 vs 90.15) aspartate (120.66 41.52) tissue serum lipid peroxidation products (80.11 39.3); also, it decreased total capacity antioxidants (113.4 189.41) compared to control group. histological analysis kidney revealed alterations induced ACR, including atrophy, necrosis, renal glomeruli tubular enlargement glomeruli, hemorrhage, edema surrounding blood vessels. Also, improved functions because propolis’s efficiency against harmful effects ACR. Moreover, examination negative changes, focal necrosis hepatocytes. Microscopic within seminiferous tubules, sloughing, desquamation sperm cells lumen. an infiltration protein substances between tubules degenerative vacuolar changes observed. renal, hepatic, testicular tissues appeared almost similar except for some minor changes. This proved feeding reduced these pathological restored normal state. It is concluded significantly biochemical damage caused recommends as cytoprotective agent

Ameliorative Effect of Honey Bee Propolis on the Nonylphenol Induced- Reproductive Toxicity in Male Albino Rats

Nonylphenol (NP) has been considered an endocrine disrupting substance causing reproductive dysfunction and increase in reactive oxygen species production in different organs including testis. Propolis is a honeybee product that has an antioxidant property. The aim of this study was to elucidate the protective effects of propolis against reproductive toxicity induced by NP in male rats. Five ex...

Effect of propolis on wound healing in albino rats

Propolis is a resinous, sticky substance that bees collect from conifer buds and use to repair cracks in their hives. Propolis was used in folk medicine as early as 300 BC as an anti-inflammatory drug and wound healing agent. We studied the effect of Propolis on wound healing in albino rats. Twenty male albino rats had a linear 3 cm incision made over skin of back. The animals were randomly div...
